Functional Capacity Evaluations

We perform functional capacity evaluations to determine if an injured employee can safely return to work.

Who Performs the Functional Capacity Evaluation?

A licensed occupational therapist will conduct the functional capacity evaluation.  An occupational therapist is specially trained to analyze work activity and determine if and to what extent an employee can complete job duties.

How is a Functional Capacity Evaluation Performed?

industrial employee working awkwardly at a industrial siteThe occupational therapist will first conduct a cognitive assessment.  Following this, the employee will go through physical tests of strength, range of motion, coordination, and balance.  Using statistics and the objective testing measurements, we measure reliability of pain and consistency of effort.  Finally, the employee will practice simulated work.  With this information, the occupational therapist can determine if the employee can safely and adequately perform job duties.
